Trasylol Lawsuits

What is Trasylol?
Manufactured by Bayer AG, Trasylol is a drug administered by an anesthesiologist to patients undergoing heart surgery to reduce blood loss and the need for transfusions.
What is the problem with Trasylol?
Studies have shown that Trasylol may increase the risk of kidney failure, heart attack, and stroke to heart surgery patients within 48 hours of being administered. Unfortunately, patients' families do not know what drugs have been administered which further complicates the diagnosis.
How does big pharma fail patient trust?
A whistleblower called the FDA about Bayer's lack of a full disclosure where Bayer representatives knew about and tried to keep quiet about a study that raised more questions over Trasylol's safety. In fact, Trasylol doubles a patient risk for kidney failure and heart attack, than its safer, generic, lower cost heart surgery blood-clotting alternatives tranexamic acid and aminocaproic acid. To add insult onto injury, a dose of aminocaproic acid costs $4; a dose of Trasylol costs $1,400.
Do you wonder why hospitals would even consider an excessively expensive drug when a cheaper dose works better?
Are doctors still using Trasylol?
No, use of the heart surgery drug was suspended but not before hundreds of thousands of patients were put at risk especially when Bayer AG knew there were problems.
