Children with Disabilities in Pennsylvania
How does child disability begin? Unfortunately, child disability can happen from birth trauma such as shoulder Dystocia or Erb's palsy. In those two instances, perhaps the mother didn't have as good prenatal care as she could have or her healthcare provider failed to plan for extenuating birthing circumstances. Child disability may occur from traumatic brain injury in the hospital or at home or car accident or product negligence from a poorly designed car seat or stroller or toy. Child disability may happen from medical malpractice due to infection, over prescription of drugs or administering the wrong drugs. Chemicals, toxins, drugs, and alcohol ingested by the mother or baby are also causes for child disability and the unfathomable cancer may even strike an infant causing child disability.
Even in the best of times these are worse case scenarios and they happen to people just like you ever day. How can you cope? First and foremost having an advocate to guide you in the right direction, to overcome the hurdles of hundreds of acronyms, bureaucratic red tape, and knowing how and what the system can do for you. Perhaps a road block of misinformation stands in your way. Perhaps a special education lawyer can help lead the way to open doors that have been closed to your child's special needs? Perhaps social security benefits are the answer to help you and your child cope with the challenges ahead?
Find out if and how legal experts versed in child disability and special education law can assist in your journey.
